I Think That It's Time

 My traveling shoes danced out of the closet this morning when an offer appeared in my inbox, begging to be worn. I haven't returned to the sparkling shores of Ireland in far too many years even though I have heard the call in my soul many times.

By the powers that be (and by cashing in frequent flyer miles and credit card points), we may be able to manage a trip in April.

So, I am now plotting the course - seven days not including travel days......should I wait until summer when I could spend more time? Should I seize the opportunity and make sure my son (who has never been to Ireland) sees everything I want him to see? 

Choices.....choices

Visited |Portaferry County Down 29/30/31 March, boy what a few days, It rained like mad, then it snowed, then it blew a force 8 gale. But I tellyou, it was still well worth it, to stand on the Windmill Hill and lok out over Strangford Lough is , for me, the greatest feeling in the world, I loved every minute of my visit, the people were great, my welcome was overwhelming, I was able to visit my Grandmothers grave andsee the house where I was born. Money can't buy moments like that.

Just returned March 17 from a week in Ireland; not nearly long enough. The weather wasn't bad but I was expecting GREEN and found BROWN. A rough Winter, I am told. Ginger Tobin

Yes it is short, but April can be so beautiful and sometimes the brief glimpses can give us a bigger picture of what we would like. I don't know what age your son is, but I have young teenagers and the best trips have been short and have left very lasting impressions. Go for it.

Hi I am new here and am living in Trier. I am learning German but am at beginners level. I just want some contact with English speaking females preferably as I am married. Is there anyone else living in Trier here?

Last time I was in Ireland (over 20 years ago), I stayed a month and it wasn't long enough.......He's 17 this year.

Hello Linda....Seven days is far too short, especially if you want to show your son around. You do not say how old he is. You would be far better going end of May, beginning June, as weather is better. Cheers...Maureen
