"Jimmy's winning matches", the song by Donegal man Rory Gallagher, continues to grow virally in the wake of the Donegal's win at the All Ireland footbal final last Sunday. The song became so popular that the Donegal team captain Michael Murphy sang a few bars while making his acceptance speech for the Sam Maguire Cup.
The song has already recieved over 600,000 views on YouTube and continues to grow in popularity with spin offs across the internet.
Rory Gallagher turned his own tune "Jimmy's selling watches" about a Senegal man Jimmy selling watches in Lanzarote into a tribute to the Donegal football manager Jim McGuinness. Rory was even tried to get his Senegal friend Jimmy over for the match (who appears in the YouTube video above) but unfortunately Jimmy couldn't get a visa in time.
The lyrics are as follows:
He comes from glenties man, he's winning plenty man, he got more medals than an olympian chinaman, we beaten kerry man, we beaten derry man, we beaten anyone we meeting in the final man. His destiny is not just written in the sand, he got a plan, he no lucky lucky man. Jimmy's winning matches , Jimmy's winning games, Jimmy's bringing Sam back to Donegal again! - He's not from Senegal, he comes from Donegal, if you want a mighty player jimmy got them all, he got McFadden man, he got murphy man, he got McHugh he got McBrearty he got Lacey man! jimmy's winning matches.
