16 year old Claremorris Student, Shania McDonagh, has won the top prize in the 2014 Texaco Children's Art competition.
This is not the first prize Shania has won, having won first prize in her age category for the past four years. She is currently a transition year student Mount St Michael Secondary School in Claremorris.
The winning entry is entitled 'Coleman' is a hyperrealist pencil portrait which was taken from a photograph by James Fennell in the book 'Vanishing Ireland'.
There are seven categories in the competition ranging from 6 years and younger to the 16-18 year old category that Shania was in. There is also a Special Needs category. All this years winners and runners up are well worth a look and can be found on the Texaco Children's Art website:
