DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 25th
Dear irishabroad.com email user,
By now, you should have received notification regarding the closure of irishabroad.com email. This notification has led to a lot of questions which we try answer here.
On May 25th, 2015, @irishabroad.com email service, which has been provided by Google ISP services for over 5 years, will be discontinued. Unfortunately, this is a unilateral decision by Google and we have no impact on that decision. This means that on May 25, access to your @irishabroad.com email through and email client or through google.com will not be accessible. This will also affect all your other apps that are connected to your @irishabroad.com account.
We advise that that you create a new account (possibly gmail) and then download/copy your emails over. Here is a good step by step guide to download: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/download-gmail-google-data/
We have found that the thunderbird option works best as it maintains/syncs your folders.
You will not have access to your @irishabroad.com email account from May25.
Once you have set up the new email address, start forwarding your irishabroad.com emails to your new email address You can do this in Gmail > Settings > Forwarding or create a forwarding filter in your email client.

If you think you will be adversely affected by this change, we are working on a short term forwarding solution that will forward emails to your new email address. To avail of this service, you need to provide us with your current email address and your new email address.
As this is not a long term solution, we advise that you use your new email for all new correspondence and start the process of changing any accounts that you use to your new email address as well.
For those who do not use the forwarding service, when an email is sent to your old online email, an automated reply will be sent to say that the irishabroad.com email service has been closed and to use another method of contact.
We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and hopefully our forwarding service will give you time to let your contacts know your new email address.
