Irish people are coming home in droves to vote in today's Marriage Equality referendum. Today, both the hashtags #voteyes and #hometovote have been trending on Twitter worldwide.
People have come across the sea from the UK with many groups getting the train from London to Holyhead and then getting the ferry across. Others have travelled at huge expense from Sydney, New York, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok with many people predicting that the turnout for the referendum will be very high.
Éire! Have some hrs free, flying in to vote tomorrow. It's the most important thing you'll do. Don't forget! #MarRef
And later tweeted:
It's 2pm! Who's voted? Get out there. #VOTEYESYOUCRAZYTHING

Unfortunately, there are many people who just couldn't afford to travel but would still like an opportunity to vote and maybe this referendum will show the government that it is time to give our emigrants a say in the future of their home country.
