The #Hometovote hastag was mentioned on Twitter 72,000 times when people came home from all over the world to vote in Ireland's marriage equality referendum on 22 May this year.
It was an extremely significant vote to many emigrants so many recent expats came home to vote as they were so interested in the future of their home country.
Twitter also thought it was quite significant and has painted it on the walls of their HQ in San Francisco.
The social media company has also honoured other hashtags that have engaged people around the world such as #ferguson and #heforshe.
The importance of the #hometovote hashtag also highlights the many emigrants who were not able to return home to vote in the recent referendum or previous referendums.
