Eight days and counting. I still need to make programs and write out seating cards, but I think I've got the seating arranged satisfactorily, at least.
I had my cleaning at the dentist this morning, tomorrow is hair, venue meeting, and meeting with our judge.
So you'd think everything was under control and fine. You'd think. You'd be wrong.
I picked the bridesmaids' dresses from David's Bridal. They're a simple strapless A-line floor-length dress in truffle, with an ivory band across the top. Easy stuff. I have 3 bridesmaids in 3 different locations - one north Jersey, one central Jersey, one NYC, so I figured DB would be the *easiest*, silly me, because they have locations all over. Well, my friend Michele, a bridesmaid who knows what she's doing, is responsible, and has been a bridesmaid about a dozen times before, ordered her dress from the Brooklyn DB on February 11. A little late, but reasonable. DB apparently ordered from their supplier on 3/3 (I have no idea why they waited 3 weeks) to be shipped directly to Michele. She called a few days ago to tell me that apparently DB wrote the WRONG apartment number on the UPS slip. And the apartment number they wrote is the ONE apartment on her hall with a resident she doesn't know. Of course. So that resident sent it BACK. Well, not knowing this, Michele called DB to find out where it was, since she should've had it already, got the UPS tracking number, and found out what happened. After a huge fight during which they tried to tell her it was her fault somehow (Huh?), she got them to agree that as soon as they had the dress back in Florida, they'd overnight it to her, and she'd have it Saturday - tomorrow. Yesterday she called UPS to follow up, only to find that UPS didn't know where it was any more. They deemed it "lost." And an investigation can only be instigated by DB because that was the destination. AND an investigation takes 1 - 8 days. Not acceptable. She called DB again to fight them into overnighting a new dress, and they've been searching the country for one in the right color scheme and size. Today, she told me that the damned dress was actually re-delivered by UPS to THE SAME WRONG APARTMENT.
Meanwhile, DB ordered her a new dress - they say there are a total of FIVE across the country in the right color and size.
Good grief. I already can't sleep. I'm having silly nightmares - about insects, some of them, about the wedding itself others. I actually had a nightmare that I ordered the fish choice at the wedding and it was all wrong. Seriously? The fish?! I can't wait for the 28th, when all is said and done, and we're there and having a good time with family and friends. Enough of this.
