I've been saying that the best thing about being married is not wedding planning any more. I don't know if it's the best thing, per se, but it's definitely a plus. I knew it was pretty bad, but I didn't realize quite how stressed I was, or how badly it was affecting me.
I got so used to saying "no" to everything. No, I couldn't go to dinner, no I couldn't hang out, no I didn't have time for a movie. It's been almost difficult to start saying "yes" again. That's how rote it became.
I swear that's what a honeymoon is for, to take a couple away from the stress and drama and allow a transition back into regular life when it's OK to make plans and spend money, and have things to do. I really pity the people who don't take a honeymoon immediately after the wedding. Even with the trip, it's been tough.
My friend invited me to dinner at her place in the city for the last night of Passover, and I started to automatically say "no," before I realized, "Hey, wait. I can do that! I have the time now!" It was such a happy feeling to say "yes," finally. And I had fun with the people there.
Eric had been asking me to hang out with him and his friends in the city after work or on weekends, and just a couple days ago, I'd realized I'd said no every single time. That's not me! I used to say yes every time! So the other night, I started to say "no" again, and then said, "Ah, f*ck it, where should I meet you?" And we had a blast.
Well, now he's working with his company on the Tribeca Film Festival. So last night, Eric, two of his friends and I went to see the world premier of a new indie move "Accidents Happen," starring Geena Davis. Afterwards, there was a Q&A with the director, writer, and actors. And yes, Geena Davis was there. She's as tall, thin, and gorgeous as ever. And she's funny and self-deprecating. I wasn't totally crazy about the movie, but I became a much bigger fan of Geena's!
While no one actually got to meet them, we had front row seats, so I got some cool photos.
I'm liking Eric's job better by the minute!
