seven numbers. To dial to another state, you must
first dial '1', then the area code e.g.: '415' and
then dial the last seven digits.
Assistance: For local directory assistance, dial '411'
For long-distance directory assistance, dial '1' and
the area code, then '555-1212'.
For operator, dial '0'
Private/Home phones: To dial locally costs nothing.

Payphones: To make a long distance phone call,
put in your money, dial the number and the operator
will tell you how much it will cost for the frist
three minutes. Long-distance phonecalls on payphones
are usually very expensive but are cheaper in the
evening after 5pm and at weekends.
An alternative to using coins is to buy prepaid telephone
credit cards which enables you to make calls at a
cheaper rate. A card costs $10 or $20. To use one of
these cards, you dial the toll-free access number and
then your account number.
Phoning Home: Dial 011
+353+ (area code minus the leading zero) + number.
Remember that the US is behind Ireland in time so you don't ring a friend or family in the middle of
the night!.
If you live in :
New York- time are 5 hours behind.
Chicago- time are 6 hours behind.
San Francisco- time are 8 hours behind
Boston - time are 5 hours behind.
Therefore, if it is 10am in San Francisco, it is 6pm
in Ireland.
