The trailer for the documentary film The Irish Pub gives us a taste of a unique insight into the nature of the authentic Irish pub. The film visits many great pubs across Ireland from The GraveDiggers and Palace Bar in Dublin to McCarthy's Bar in Castletownbere, County Cork. Many of these pubs have been with the same family for generation and have kept their original decor.
Many Irish pubs are an integral part of Irish social and community life where people meet, whether it's for christenings or funerals, birthdays or music events. Some of these pubs also act as the local grocer, funeral director and post office. The Irish Pub film promises a portrait of this unique aspect of Irish life.
Directed and produced by Alex Fegan, the documentary film The Irish Pub is described as "a eulogy to the greatest institution in Irish society, the pub or more specifically the traditional Irish publicans who run them. The characters in this exceptionally endearing film all run and own pubs that have been in their families for generations and it is through their warmth, wit and wisdom that we gain an insight into the heart and soul of THE IRISH PUB."
ATOM FILMS in Association with BORD SCANNAN NA hÉIREANN/ THE IRISH FILM BOARD present THE IRISH PUB.
