In the pantheon of Irish/English folk groups they don’t come much more
revered than Flook.
This year sees the talented foursome celebrate their 10th anniversary
— and a decade in their star shows no sign of waning. Haven is, quite simply,
one of their best albums yet.
It’s a deft mixture of guitar, flute, whistle, bodhran and accordion
that manages to mix the modern and traditional to create a rich tapestry
of sound. Its multi-layered sophistication of a rare and haunting kind that
leaves you just wanting more.
If you’ve never experienced the Flook magic before then this is heartily
recommended. If you’re already a fan then you’ll be pleased to know this
is up there with their best. Simply superb.
