How couples meet can be an interesting story in and of itself. This week WeddingsOnline.ie asks a few good men for their version of when they fell in love.

Kelvin (27) and Amy (23)
"Amy was my first girlfriend. We met when we were still in baby school, probably about the age of six, and by the age of eight she was my girlfriend. As we got older we lost contact, but many years later I received a Christmas card from her. I called and asked her to come out for New Year's Eve and she did. As soon as I met her again I felt like I had come home. She was the woman of my dreams and I proposed to her after about two months. The funny thing is that as we reminisced about all the years we'd been apart it turned out that we had both lived in San Francisco at the same time. When we compared addresses, we found out that we had actually lived on the same street and in the same apartment block. I don't know how we never bumped into each-other in all those years."

"What do you get when you fall in love? A girl with a pin to burst your bubble, That's what you get for all your trouble! I'll - never fall in love again"

"That was the music playing in the background when Susan and I met for the first time. We were on a skiing holiday with a bunch of friends. I knew I liked her immediately but I was shy. I got my chance to show her I cared though on the first day on the slopes. My friends and I were careering down ahead of her and when we looked behind us she was fine, until she hit something and her skis went out of control and the next minute she was flying ahead of us. She fell really badly and had to be taken immediately to the local hospital. I went with her and afterwards I stayed with her for the rest of the holiday, to nurse her back to health. From that day on, we've been together non-stop."

Paul (32) and Lona (29)
"We tell this story (a lot) because it is a pretty unbelievable one. I met Lona when she came into me for a haircut, just after she had been on Blind Date, and just before she was taking off on holiday with the guy she had picked. She was really excited and was full of chat..."Did you see the show - what did you think of my man?" I hadn't seen it but after meeting her I made sure I watched the one where she came back and they gave their verdicts about each other. How relieved I was when I heard her say that he was a total plonker! I got on the case and found her number and called her by the end of that week to ask her out. The rest is history."

Darragh (35) and Dee (30)
"When I started treatment for a root canal I never knew that this would be the beginning of the greatest romance of my life. Dee was my gorgeous dentist and from the very moment I sat on that great white chair I was in love. Every day after treatment I'd come home and ask my friends and family for advice on what to do, and eventually I just plucked up the courage and asked her out. The best thing about it is that I'll never have to pay for dental treatment again!"

Thomas (60) and Sian (52)
"The first time I met Sian was on a holiday in Portugal in the early 1970s, when we were both married with little children. We all got on very well as happily married couples and ended up seeing each other as a group of friends even when we got back to Ireland. As the years passed, though, we fell out of contact and addresses were lost and forgotten about. It wasn't until about 20 years later when I received an email from Sian that all the memories came back. She told me that her husband had died of cancer five years previously and that she had been trying to contact me for years. She had emailed every man with my last name and had come across some quacks before she finally found me. I too was single, so within a few months we arranged to meet up. As soon as we saw each other again we were in love. For us both it is a new beginning."
