Carey
Transportation (718) 632-0500). Every half hour a bus departs from the
Port Authority Bus Terminal at 8th and 42nd and the Grand Central Terminal
at Park and 41st. Both take around an hour, and cost $13.
Grey Line
Air Shuttle (212) 315-3006. Picks up from most Manhattan hotels. Your
trip will be about an hour and will cost around $16.
Train
From Manhattan,
take the New York City Transit Subway 'A' train to Howard Beach Station.
From there a frequent bus service connects to the terminals. Journey time
from midtown around 90 minutes.
Fare from
Manhattan $1.50.
Taxis
A taxi ride
to the airport should take about an hour, but don't forget to take traffic
into account when scheduling a trip to the airport. The fare should average
about $30 - $40 excluding tolls.
By Car
JFK Airport
is at the southern end of the Van Wyck Expressway. The terminals are clearly
signposted from the approach roads, as are the airlines based at each terminal.
Usually it
should only take an hour to get to the airport from midtown Manhatten, but
allow for longer.
