Concern Honors Women Barbara
Krumsiek, Chair, CEO and President of Calvert Group, was honored at the
Women of Concern luncheon on June 26 at The Rainbow Room, New York City.
The annual lunch, which celebrated the lives of women and girls worldwide,
honored Krumsiek for leading Calvert, a company specializing in socially
responsible investing, in developing innovative and precedent-setting
initiatives that strive to empower women.
Concern Worldwide, founded in Ireland by Fr. Aengus Finucane, is a non
denominational, voluntary organization committed to the relief, assistance
and advancement of people in need in less developed areas of the world.
Powerful testimony of that work came from guest speaker Anne O’Mahony,
regional director of Concern’s programs in Africa. O’Mahony
gave a firsthand account of the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, and
also described the escalating crisis in neighboring Chad, where over 140,000
people displaced by conflict are in desperate need.
