Introduction

When the Stock Exchange reopened just six days after the devastating attack on the World Trade Center, it was a boost for New Yorkers and a sign to the world that America would go on. It was fitting on that day that representatives of New York's "Finest," the Fire Department and the Police Department, rang the opening bell.
