Davis Is Back
April 2, 2008
By Mike Farragher
NEW York-based Celtic chanteuse will be taking a break from recording in Ireland to be part of the Irish Arts Center’s New Voices series on April 10 and 11. ”I chose to do my album in Ireland because the people I wanted to work with are based there,” she explains.
“Moya Brennan’s band leader and producer, Fionan De Barra, is someone I wanted to work when two years ago. I saw him with Moya in New York at Joe’s Pub on the Two Horizons tour. Through this whole process of working with him I met Moya and she has been a wonderful influence, friend and mentor through the process.”
Davis promises a more upbeat collection of songs on the horizon.
“I wrote my first album after having been dumped by a guy I really liked, so the songs and tone of the first album is pretty darn melancholy. Since then, however, the heart has healed and I’m a happy gal with many more uptempo songs on this album,” she says.
This promises to be a special event, so make sure you log onto irishartscenter.org to get your tickets. The center is located at 553 West 51st Street in New York.
