The Teflon Taoiseach

IT was quite a week for Ireland’s Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Bertie Ahern. He had just undergone some of the worst weeks of his 10 years in power, deluged with severe criticism in the press and from opposition parties for his alleged wrongdoings when he admitted accepting money from friends and business associates back in the early 1990s.
