Election Looms as Parties Prepare

THE Dail (Parliament) resumed this week after the Easter recess, with few in Ireland believing it will sit for much more than a week. As politicians returned to work at Leinster House speculation was widespread that Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Bertie Ahern would call a general election within days despite the latest poll indicating sliding support for the government.
