| Victims to March in Dublin
By Brendan Anderson
Members of the Orange Order and victims of IRA violence are planning
to stage a parade through the centre of Dublin next month.
Its organizers have said they want the Irish government to know how they
feel about legislation which will allow paramilitary fugitives to return
to Northern Ireland.
Irish police have yet to give their permission for the march.
Organizer Willie Frazer said they hoped the DUP’s Ian Paisley and Jeffrey
Donaldson would speak at the event.
“There is double standards here when it comes to the Irish government,”
he said.
“They are expecting us to take murderers into government in Northern
Ireland, while at the same time they have quite clearly said they will not
take them into government in the Republic of Ireland.
“We keep hearing this word justice and this word equality but it doesn’t
seem to come into place when it comes to the Protestant/unionist community.”
Donaldson said he would be supporting the march.
“There is support in the Irish Republic for the position we are putting
forward,” the Lagan Valley MP said.
“Indeed the main opposition parties there have all came out against the
on-the-run legislation and the amnesty that is being granted to terrorists
on both sides of the border.”
