Celtic Earns Champions Victory

CELTIC finally discovered how to win in the Champions League but they made hard work of a 1-0 victory over Shaktar Donetsk in Group F at Parkhead on Tuesday night.
An Alan Thompson goal from a 25th minute free kick sent the Celts on their way after three successive defeats, but they failed to take
advantage of two red cards for the visitors, one either side of
halftime.
Irish youngster Aiden McGeady started on the right side of midfield for the Bhoys. Barcelona came from a goal down to beat AC Milan 2-1 in Spain in the same group.
Chelsea booked their place in the knock-out stages when an Arjen Robben goal, his first for the club, secured a 1-0 win away to CSKA Moscow in Group H where champions FC Porto drew 0-0 at home to PSG.
Arsenal’s fate in Group E is still undecided after they could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Panathinaikos. Thierry Henry scored from the penalty spot in the 16th minute but a late Cygan own goal proved costly. PSV maintained their chances with a 1-0 at home to Rosenburg.
Derry City scored a 1-0 home win over Waterford United in the eircom League while Stephen Elliott was on target again as Sunderland beat Wolves, who sacked manager Dave Jones on Monday, 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.
Irish striker Alan Lee scored for Cardiff in their 4-1 win over West Ham.
