All-Ireland seisiún 2006

The Seisiún na hÉireann music festival in Quin, Co. Clare takes place from September 29-October 1 2006.

This year sees a major line-up of session groups, and to complement the fabulous music sessions there is a wonderful art exhibition, community games, a mega duck race and a Céilí held in the local community hall over the course of the weekend.

The Festival prize fund includes 5,000 for the winner and prizes for best overseas entry and other runner-up prizes.

The winning publican receives a plaque as winning venue of seisiún na hÉireann.

The festival commences Friday, September 29 at 7.30pm with simultaneous sessions kicking off in all the village pubs.

The first round heats go on until 10pm and then it’s open session time with late bar exemptions. First round heats continue again at 2pm on Saturday afternoon.

At noon on Saturday an art exhibition by local artists will open in the village hall.

At 5.00pm simultaneously in the pubs the semi-final qualifiers will be announced. Semi-finals will commence on Saturday at 7.30pm with open sessions and late bar exemptions with the finalists announced at 10.30pm.

Session Finals commence at 2pm on Sunday at 5pm in the village hall. The four finalists will play for 10 minutes before the winner and runners up are announced.

Now in its third successful year, Seisiún na hÉireann festival promises a superb weekend of the best pub sessions with the finest of musicians from all over Ireland, Europe and a visiting group from Alaska.
