Powerful Dublin
Balladeer Damien Dempsey will be taking to the Hammersmith Irish Centre’s
stage on Saturday, February 11 to mark the British launch of his new album
Shots.
Since the release of his first commercial single in 1995 Dempsey has opened
for Sinéad O’Connor, Bob Dylan and he’s set to be supporting
The Levellers later this year.
His last album Seize The Day received rave reviews while his latest album
Shots features many top musicians, including Michael McGoldrick and Brian
Eno.
Musician Shane MacGowan bestows high praise upon the proud Dubliner and
his work.
He said: “It’s angry, it’s humorous, it’s great
music, it’s great lyrics. He’s similar to me as a songwriter.
He sees the beauty that is Ireland and that is Ireland’s past and
that can be Ireland’s future.”
Doors open 7.30pm.
