Echoes Of Erin Tour 2008

THE 2008 Echoes Of Erin concert tour of Britain (February 23 to March 1) is a colourful and exciting show of Irish traditional music, song and dance.

This year’s tour features as usual some of the finest traditional musicians, singers and dancers from the Comhaltas community including Liverpool’s own Bruce Scott.

Echoes Of Erin will visit seven British venues and again the annual tour features the best of traditional talent drawn from Ireland and Britain.

This year’s group has already toured Ireland in October 2007 and thrilled audiences with their exciting traditional show at venues in all four provinces.

Each year the tour assembles a fine mix of established artistes together with up-and-coming young stars.

These are blended into a fast-moving and colourful show which appeals to both the connoisseurs and peripheral fans of Irish traditional entertainment.

In 2008 there is a unique appearance of a father and daughter from Co. Clare — namely Joe and Eimear Arkins.

Both are fine singers while Eimear is also a highly-accomplished traditional musician.

Bruce Scott comes from Liverpool’s Irish community. His father was born in Co. Derry and his mother hails from Co. Dublin.

He inherited his love of singing from his mother’s side of the family.

In his early days he was a disciple of some of the great names in Irish music including Seamus Ennis and Joe Heaney.

Bruce puts the privilege of performing as support to Seamus Ennis and Joe Heaney among his musical highlights — as well as appearing at Liverpool’s St. George’s Hall with three generations of the McPeake family.

Bruce has also written a number of fine songs and one of these — The People’s Own MP — is featured on Christy Moore’s Spirit Of Freedom album.

Included in the 150-plus songs that Bruce has written are Town Of Tears for the people of Omagh and also a wonderful song in memory of the loss of The Solway Harvester and her crew of seven off the Kirkcudbrightshire coast in January 2000.

Bruce released his excellent debut CD My Colleen By The Shore at the Liverpool Irish Festival in October 2005.
