First steps to world success for
talented trio
By STAFF REPORTER
THEY’VE already tasted
chart success in Britain —now Ireland’s latest would-be music
sensations are set to take on the world.
New girlband Triniti have landed a £3.5million record deal for their
mix of traditional Celtic and contemporary music.
The deal came on the back of sales of 400,000 for the compilation CDs
You Raise Me Up and The Number One Classical Album — both of which
took the charts by storm in Britain.
Now 25-year-old Laura Cunningham, 21-year-old Eve O’Donnell and
22-year-old Sharon Moran are planning to repeat that success with their
own album after signing to multi-national record label Universal Classics
and Jazz.
The trio have been described as Enya meets the Sugababes and have been
tipped for worldwide success.
The group has already toured with Welsh singer Aled Jones and this summer
will perform across Ireland alongside X-Factor superstars G4.
Their new deal was launched this week in Dublin’s Morrison Hotel
— where they were presented with a disc marking 400,000 sales of
the compilation CDs You Raise Me Up and The Number One Classical Album.
But despite the multi-million pound new deal and dreams of making it as
international music stars the girls are keeping their feet firmly on the
ground.
For the Dublin trio insist on rehearsing, performing and even giving interviews
in their bare feet — practising the Alexander Technique which they
say makes them more aware of the muscles they use for singing.
Their self-titled first album has been made under the guidance of Ross
Cullen — the man behind Irish singer Enya’s early success.
It is due for release on May 22 backed by a massive advertising campaign.
And the band members can’t wait for its release.
Eve O’Donnell said: “We are absolutely delighted. We couldn’t
be happier. We are so lucky and are not taking any of it for granted.”
Laura Cunningham said: “We can’t wait to see what people think
of our album. We have put our heart and soul into it.”
And Sharon Moran added: “It has been a bit of a shock. Getting all
this attention is new for us — but it is really exciting.”
