Hammersmith’s musical contrasts

HAMMERSMITH Irish centre has a weekend of musical events on December 1 and 2.

Saturday sees The Popes take the stage. Following the sad death last year of the band’s banjo player Tommy McManamon they took a break but now frontman Paul McGuinness brings them back in full force with a new line-up. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £12 or £10 in advance.

While on Sunday over 30 young musicians will be in a concert playing fiddles, banjos, accordions, flutes and bodhráns.

Doors open at 12-30pm with lunch served from 1pm while the music starts at 2pm.Tickets are adults £6/£5 and children £2.
