Horsehair set for spring tour

THE HORSEHAIR Wind and Reed spring tour brings together three outstanding traditional Irish musicians.

The line-up for the first traditional music tour of Music Network’s spring season certainly promises to blow away the winter blues.

Noted for his beguiling old-time style, Dublin-born fiddler Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh (pictured) has recorded and performed with the likes of Iarla Ó Lionárd, The Waterboys and Breandán Begley.

In 2003 he released Kitty Lie Over to great acclaim with piper Mick O’Brien.

Flute player Catherine McEvoy first burst on to the traditional Irish music scene as part of all-female group Macalla in the mid-1980s.

Since then she has toured extensively in Europe and the US and released two albums accompanied by the legendary New York piano player Felix Dolan.

The flying fingers of concertina player Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh have wowed audiences from New York to Scandinavia.

Noted for his work both as a soloist and as a member of the band Providence, Mícheál has also been part of the three-in-a-row

All-Ireland-winning Naomh Phádraig and Táin Céilí bands.

He has recently followed up the success of his debut album The Nervous Man with a new CD called Inside Out.
