Innovative band preparing to take music world by storm

A unique Irish music group hoping to conquer the music world is looking to Britain to help launch them to stardom.

Dubliner Eoghan Gallagher and his band Libero played to a packed audience at the Royal Opera House over the weekend.

And Covent Garden was close to capacity on Sunday night when the eight-piece band, whose sound resembles the eclectic sound of the Buena Vista Social Club, took to the stage.

Gallagher said: “The show was about getting the music out there and hopefully securing some investment from those who attended who are in the industry.

“We’re happy that we have commercial potential and if someone came to us with an offer that would be great.

“We’re hoping to launch in Britain and then release some material next year.”

Libero’s performance at the Royal Opera House offered the audience of industry professionals a glimpse of their debut album, which is due to be released next spring.

Libero consists of a selection of talented performers who play guitar, bass, drums and piano as well as four vocalists in a distinctive line-up, which has changed many a time since its inception five years ago.

Gallagher added: “The original project included Tahlia Marvin (daughter of Hank of The Shadows fame) and Conor Donovan who played percussion on Damien Rice’s acclaimed album O.

“The other members are musicians who are happy to be a part of a project at the moment.

“Our sound now is primarily soul with elements of jazz, blues, folk and R ‘n’ B.”

The band has already performed a hugely successful sold-out show at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

And Gallagher’s London-based music label Libero Entertainment Ltd also comprises a music school and a business consultancy service.

The Blanchardstown native set up the company himself following a degree in business from Dublin City University.

He said: “I manage to work with all three sides of the business by getting up early every day.”
