Levenshulme Festival’s free family firework party

THE IRISH will be out in force this week as Manchester’s Levenshulme Festival stages a big firework display on November 1.

More than 2,000 people are expected to join in the celebrations at the free family outdoor party and display.

The special evening of family entertainment starts at 4.30pm with a family fun fair followed by a disco by DJ James H and Vicky Richardson along with live entertainment from the Mahabat Egyptian dancing troupe and the Manchester School of Samba.

A massive fireworks display will mark the end of the celebrations at 7.30pm. Admission to the event is free and everyone is welcome.

The evening is one of the highlights of the two-week Levenshulme Festival — which finishes on Sunday, November 4. Some 500 performers have taken part in the festival.

Festival president Lawrence Hennigan said: “The outdoor party is always one of the highlights of the festival.

“The festival provides the live entertainment and the city council takes responsibility for the fireworks display and funfair.

“It is a great night of family entertainment and one that I look forward to taking my family to every year.

“You just need to wrap up warm to enjoy the full evening of entertainment.”
