Lord Mayor helps launch Levenshulme Festival 2007 THE
LORD Mayor of Manchester Councillor Glynn Evans enjoyed a warm Irish welcome
when he helped launch this year’s Levenshulme Festival.
The village in south Manchester is home to the biggest Irish community
outside of London and has its own legendary Irish Radio show The Full
Irish on 96.9

The sun shone and everyone was in a party mood at the official launch
of the two-week long festival.
Cllr Evans said: “It is great to see Levenshulme’s multi-cultural
community joining together to celebrate their different cultures and talents.”
The opening was part of the One World Family Fun Day which attracted hundreds
of visitors from all over Manchester and featured a host of activities
for children plus a live broadcast by the Full Irish radio team.
Live entertainment was provided by The Manchester School of Samba, St.
Peter’s Church line dancing group, Levenshulme’s Egyptian
