McFadden: Marriage was doomed from the start

FORMER Westlife singer Brian McFadden has revealed that his marriage to Atomic Kitten’s Kerry Katona was doomed from the start.

McFadden who has admitted having sex with a lapdancer on his stag night claimed they didn’t spend their wedding night together and were more interested in the event being covered by Hello! magazine.

He said: “It wasn’t a real wedding. We were getting married to have a big party and get loads of money for it and to appear showbiz. The day my marriage ended was on the stag night. I felt: ‘This is not supposed to be.’

“Me and Kerry didn’t even see each other on our wedding night. I don’t talk to her now. But if I had to I’d only do it for the sake of the kids.”

McFadden, who is currently dating Australian singer/actress Delta Goodrem, also admitted that being a popstar and a father aged 21 was tricky to deal with.

He said: “I was too young to understand what having kids meant. Having a child was like getting a dog. If we hadn’t had kids the marriage wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did.”

The couple have two daughters Molly, five, and Lily Sue, four.

Kerry wed Mark Croft in Gretna Green on Valentine’s Day and gave birth to their first child Heidi Elizabeth last month.

Meanwhile McFadden has also reportedly been dropped by his record label because of disappointing album sales, according to Digitalspy.co.uk.

The 26-year-old left Westlife in 2004 and quickly signed to Sony BMG to pursue a solo career.

His debut single Real To Me reached No. 1 in Britain in September of that year but his most recent single Everybody’s Someone a duet with country singer LeAnn Rimes failed to crack Britain’s top 40.
