| Northern rockers are wired for sound
Northern-Irish
trio Fighting With Wire are building a solid rock fan base in both Ireland
and Britain. Frontman Cahir O’Doherty takes time to chat with Grainne
Mcloughlin about their latest single and the secret to making it as a
musician.
Despite launching their attack on the rock scene a relatively short time
ago Fighting With Wire have made a pretty impressive impact.
Fronted by Cahir O’Doherty and completed with Craig McKean and Jamie
King, the band — which got together in 2003 — has found support
right across the rock press and airwaves. They’ve also bagged a
few highly sought after support slots with Biffy Clyro, Million Dead and
Reuben over the last year.
They owe all this to the success of their EP EP02 but now they’re
ready to crank things up a notch with a fresh attack rock ’n’
roll style with their latest single Machine Parts.
According to O’Doherty Machine Parts is a “slice of immediate
frenetic, straight-up rock ’n’ roll fusing Foo Fighters-esque
melodies with the raw energy and edginess of Fugazi and Pixies”.
It’s already a live favourite with their ever-increasing loyal fan-base
and the infectious blend of their latest offering makes them real contenders
for the mainstream.
Featured in Kerrang, Rock Sound and Alternative Ulster the Derry band
couldn’t be happier with the attention they’ve had since launching
Fighting With Wire.
The rock bible that is Kerrang described the Irish lads as combination
of a wealth of musical talent and a drive for success which has rocketed
them to the forefront of the Irish and British rock scene. It also said
their live show delivers an infectious blend of raw energy and passion,
which are big words coming from the Kerrang mag.
Definitely a band to look out for in the future.
