Cork actor Jonathon Rhys Meyers has started work on Kirsten Sheridan’s new film August Rush.

Filming in New York, the drama explores the world of a young guitarist (Meyers) and a young cellist — played by Keri Russell — who spend one night together in New York and then go their separate ways. The night results in a son, August Rush, who vows to reunite with his parents and in doing so embarks on a musical adventure.

The film also stars Freddie Highmore, Robin Williams and Terrence Howard.
