See Róisín White live RÓISÍN White has
become one of the foremost song carriers of the Ulster tradition.
Born in Co. Down she acquired her interest in music by listening to her
mother singing around the house.
She studied Irish Gaelic and absorbed traditional singing at one of the
Arán Islands from a small community where performance was common
and natural.
She has learned songs directly from countless sources and revival singers
including Len Graham, Eddie Butcher, Paddy and Bridget Tunney and Robert
Cinnamond.
Róisín has absorbed traditional culture and developed her
own robust and jaunty singing style.
Retired from teaching Irish for a living she now teaches singing at various
weekends and week-long schools and performs at festivals in several countries.
She has recorded The First Of My Rambles and will shortly be bringing
out her second CD.
Catch Róisín White with The Rakes on Friday, February 29
at the Musical Traditions Club, The King & Queen, 1 Foley Street,
London at 8pm.
