singer Shane MacGowan has insisted on getting married in a tent so he
can smoke through the ceremony and the reception at his planned wedding
in Ireland this summer.
The gap-toothed frontman has told friends he will only marry in Ireland
if he can erect a wedding marquee and smoke to his heart’s content.
Shane, 49, is set to tie the knot with is long-term, on-off girlfriend
Victoria Clarke in September.
A close friend revealed: “Shane’s biggest nightmare is having
the most special night of his life ruined by the smoking ban. He wants
to get a huge marquee erected for all the guests and maybe even stage
the wedding blessing there too.
“Anyone who knows Shane sees that he has a fag in his mouth every
15 minutes.
“It would be impossible for him to go without a cigarette for the
whole day.”
