Shayne’s no dummy

By Elaine Sheridan

Things just couldn’t get any better for second-generation Irish lad Shayne Ward. Apart from still celebrating the release of his new single No Promises which sold over 200,000 copies in just a couple of days he has gone one step further by unveiling his own waxwork at Madame Tussauds in London.

He is the first reality TV star to have a waxwork displayed at the tourist attraction. Madame Tussauds said it had been inundated with requests from young visitors to make Ward the first reality television star to become a wax figure at the attraction.

He said: “It’s just fantastic. I can’t get over it.”

Fans can also see him giving tips on how to be a pop star on a large plasma screen behind his wax double. The X-Factor winner dedicated the lifesize model to his mum Philomena who hails from Roscommon, whom he says helped him achieve his dream of becoming a singer.

He said: “My mum’s going to want to take it home with her.”

And Shayne must have to pinch himself these days because it is reported that he is about to sign a £500,000 modelling deal with Calvin Klein as well as being offered a six figure sum to be the British face of shaving brand Gillette, alongside David Beckham. Who said it’s tough at the top.
