Sir Bob ready to receive top award

By Grainne Mcloughlin

Former Boomtown Rats star Bob Geldof is set to receive a top award at the Irish Recorded Music Association Honours at the end of the month in Dublin

And Geldof, who alongside U2’s Bono has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, is thought to be delighted.

It’s not suprising of course as organisers described the honour as “the highest and most distinguished accolade that anyone from the world of music can ever hope to achieve in this country”.

Previous recipients of the prize include Christy Moore and Larry Gogan.

Geldof was also only recently awarded the freedom of Dublin city.
