| Sky’s the limit for Grainne
Newsreader
Grainne Seoige made her first appearance on Sky News’ global service
last weekend — though it was on the station’s graveyard shift.
Grainne, 32, made her bow on a slot with one of the station’s lowest
viewership figures. Few Irish viewers would have seen the debut, which
went out in the early hours of Saturday morning. She will continue to
anchor Sky’s Irish news service, which is broadcast twice nightly.
The Galway beauty looked stunning with a new short, slick haircut and
an Alexander McQueen-style black-and-white wide-collared suit. Sources
have revealed that Grainne will soon move to the highly prestigious 9pm-to-12pm
slot, while a stint alongside Eamonn Holmes on Sunrise is also mooted.
Gorgeous Grainne began her career in 1996 with the launch of Teilifís
na Gaeilge (now TG4) co-anchoring the 10pm news bulletin. She stayed there
until 1998, when she moved to the recently-launched TV3 and 6:30pm News
with Alan Cantwell.
Stardom seems to run in the family as Gráinne is the sister of
Síle Seoige, who is also an Irish TV presenter.
She is working in both Britain and Ireland for the next six weeks, but
says she is not planning a full-time move to Britain.
