The songs of Donegal

Music Network kicks off its 2006 Autumn Season (September 20-30) with a nationwide tour celebrating the traditional songs of Donegal featuring the outstanding talents of Maighread Ní Dhomhnaill (voice), Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill (voice and keyboard) and Tony McManus (guitar, Scotland).

Prepare for a night to remember as two of the greatest living sean nós singers, Maighread and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill, hook up with Tony McManus, a spellbinding performer who has almost single-handedly redefined guitar playing in Celtic music.

Music Network tours are funded by the Arts Council and are presented in association with The Irish Times and RTÉ Lyric FM. Further information from Music Network at (01) 671 9429 or www.musicnetwork.ie

Unfortunately Music Network doesn’t organise concerts in Britain — it would be interesting if a music promoter in Britain were to approach Music Network to ascertain if similar tours could be undertaken in some of the major cities in Britain.

On Tour: Wed Sept 20 Westport (Matt Molloy’s Yard, 9.30 pm); Thurs 21 Sept Ennis (Glór Irish Music Centre, 8 pm); Fri 22 Sept Thurles (Source Arts Centre, 8 pm); Sat 23 Sept Portlaoise, (Dunamaise Arts Centre, 8pm); Sun 24 Sept Letterkenny (An Grianán, 8 pm); Tues 26 Sept: Dublin (Coach House, Dublin Castle, 8 pm); Wed 27 Sept Carrick-on-Shannon; (The Dock Arts Centre, 8.30 pm); Thurs 28 Sept Ratoath, (Ratoath Community Centre, 8 pm); Fri 29 Sept: Bray, (Mermaid Arts Centre, 8 pm); Sat 30 Sept: Tinahely, (Courthouse Arts Centre, 8.30 pm).
