Top acts announced for Birmingham St. Pat’s parade

MORE details have been announced for the forthcoming Birmingham St. Patrick’s Festival.

Organisers have confirmed the popular festival will run from March 9-17.

The Birmingham St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are now amongst the biggest in Europe and draw visitors from all over the West Midlands and further afield.

The highlight of the event will be the annual parade on Sunday, March 16 when tens of thousands of people are expected to line the streets.

The route of the parade through Digbeth remains unchanged and so far eight bands have been confirmed — with two travelling over from Ireland for the big occasion.

They include the Birmingham Irish Pipes and Drums, Triumph Pipe Band, West Midlands Police Band, Wolverhampton Pipe Band, Arklow Marching Band, Combined Nautical Band, Drums and Pipes of the Irish Guards and the St. MacCartan’s Pipe Band.

Radio star Bob Brolly and BBC WM will be broadcasting live from the start of the parade and people from all over the world will be able to listen to the events live on www.bbc.co.uk/birmingham.

Further details of all the attractions will appear in The Irish Post over the next few weeks.
