Two new language courses

TWO brand-new Irish classes are being offered at the London Irish Centre in Camden next month.

The first is an Irish children’s theatre group aimed at children aged 7-11 years which will explore all aspects of drama and finish each term with a public performance.

The group will also explore Irish myths and legends turning stories into drama. The course starts Thursday April 19 from 6-7.30pm and costs £20 for the first six weeks.

The second group on offer is an Irish writers’ group aimed at adults interested in developing their creative writing skills especially in the field of performance and drama.

Led by professional writers and theatre workers the group will work towards three showcase performances a year.

The course is ideal for people of Irish descent of all ages, background and abilities. The course also starts on April 19 from 8-9.30pm and costs £40 for the first six weeks.

Both groups are run by John Dunne a professional playwright, director and theatre producer.

John’s work includes plays about the Irish Famine, the 1916 Rising and life in Belfast in the ’60s.

He has also adapted Liam O’Flaherty’s The Informer and has directed and produced plays by prolific Irish playwright Tom O’Brien the most recent being On Raglan Road.
