Why all the stars love Jennifer’s Irish food

They say good food is the way to a man’s heart.

And one woman who knows better than most is Jennifer Irvine — a self-made millionaire who lives in the heart of the Surrey countryside.

Ms Irvine — who hails from Eyeries in west Cork — launched her Pure Package healthy food business in London just over three years ago and since then has enjoyed all the trappings that go with running a successful enterprise.

The 31-year-old re-invented the meals-on-wheels concept in a new, innovative way by delivering healthy meals and snacks to clients’ doors.

The company boasts the likes of Patsy Kensit, Ruby Wax and athlete Linford Christy as regular customers, as well as a host of top actors and models.

The mother-of-two came up with the idea while living in New York and knew there was a gap in the British market.

She said: “I had no idea it would take off so rapidly.

“It did so because people here have no time to cook good quality food.

“Having nutritionally balanced, delicious tasting meals delivered to your door is the ultimate convenience food and people are willing to pay for that.”

Growing up on a small farm in Ireland Ms Irvine enjoyed a healthy, fresh diet and developed an appreciation for decent food.

Now her award-winning company offers a daily food delivery service of freshly prepared, highly nutritious meals and snacks catered specifically to the client.

A day’s food — three meals and two snacks — is delivered by 6am each and every day.

The firm is backed by a team of nutritionists and Michelin-starred chefs that devise a diet to suit individual client needs.

Based in the heart of New Covent Garden Market — the largest fruit and vegetable market in Britain — all the food is sourced directly from traders based there.

The Irish woman launched the business in March 2004 and has since won a flurry of media attention.

She said: “The company has grown by word of mouth and extreme hard work.

“It’s a very practical idea that works very well in today’s world.

“Now we deliver around 200 meal packages a day to a loyal clientele.

“What I really like about it is that I benefit from the service myself.

“I had my daughter Lilly 18-months-ago and I’m on the personalised breast-feeding plan, which is totally suited to me and my baby.

“I don’t have to cook a thing, it’s all done for me.”

These days Jennifer spends a lot of her time at home with her daughters Jasmin and Lilly but keeps a firm eye on the running of the business.

Her top-tip is to do something you love yourself and then you’ll fully understand your market.

She hopes to develop the Pure Package brand over the next five years to include detox packs, personal trainers and maybe even her own brand of ice-cream.
