| Irish songstress a big hit with
Grease viewers By

VIEWERS of ITV’s Grease Is The Word are remaining hopelessly devoted
to Irish songstress Susan McFadden.
The sister of former Westlife member Brian McFadden is the favourite to
play the coveted role of Sandy in a brand new West End production of the
musical Grease.
And bookmakers Paddy Power have placed McFadden and her partner Danny
Bayne as the 13/8 favourites to triumph over the shows other seven couples.
Readers of The Irish Post are also being encouraged to show their support
for the Irish 24-year-old.
Grace Gilford said: “I think it’s great that Susan is vying
for the role in Grease. It’s bound to be a huge hit because I don’t
think there’s anyone who hasn’t seen the film and not loved
it. Susan’s impressive performance in the show continues to show
Ireland, its people and their talent in a very positive way and I think
we should all show her our support.”
Susan was born and raised in Dublin but is currently single and living
in London. She has been singing for 20 years and attended stage school
where she had singing lessons and dance tuition.
Although she has never appeared on a West End stage the hopeful contender
has had numerous auditions for shows and appeared on TV in Ireland in
mini-series Relative Strangers.
The opportunity to play the role made famous by Olivia Newton-John is
one that excited the Irish singer.
She said: “Sandy absolutely is my dream job and to play her in the
West End would just be out of this world. I think this is the first time
I’ve actually felt proud of myself for something. I feel that because
of my brother I have to prove myself that little bit more to show that
I am here on my own merit.
“People have this perception that because I have a famous brother
that it would inevitably get me to a point where I want to be famous but
that just simply isn’t the way things are. And I hope that the public
will see this when they watch the show. I’ve seen how fame affects
lives.
“It’s not always a bed of roses which probably most people
may think. Because of my brother I have a realistic view of fame. I don’t
want fame; I just want success in my career.”
Susan has wowed the judging panel during her run to the final stages of
the show.
They said they were “bowled over” by her version of Hopelessly
Devoted To You and she even impressed them with her American accent. It
is also believed that she has the support of Simon Cowell who is the executive
producer of the hit series.
So could Susan McFadden be the one the viewers want? Time will tell.
