Keano plays it again

By John Crowley's

Millionaire footballer Roy Keane has said that he would watch a hit Irish musical based on his World Cup walkout — but only if producers stump up a free ticket for him.

The musical, starring Mario Rosenstock, Risteard Cooper and Gary Cooke, brings to the stage Keane’s famous disagreement with former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy.

On a recent trip to Dublin Roy was asked if he had heard of I, Keano — currently running at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre.

The Manchester United star replied: “I’ve heard of it, that it is very good. But I don’t have the time to see it. I’ve got to fly back — I’m working tomorrow.”

But when he was asked if he would consider attending a performance of the musical if it relocated to Manchester Keane replied: “If they gave me a free ticket, maybe I might go.”

I, Keano will return to the Olympia Theatre for another run from April 27 to May 14.
