Pull up a chair and enjoy the work of a master of music

Two North of Ireland singer-songwriters have joined a host of national and international artists to feature on an alternative Christmas charity album.

Belfast’s rising star Duke Special and Snow Patrol collaborator Iain Archer, from Bangor, have contributed tracks to It’s Not Like Christmas which has been produced in aid of homeless charity Shelter.

Duke Special has teamed up with Sussex artist David Ford for a song written especially for the project called Of Whoredom And Falconry while Ivor Novello award-winner Archer has performed a version of the festive classic Little Drummer Boy.

The Northern contingent doesn’t stop there with the Amazing Pilots, made up of brothers Phil and Paul Wilkinson from Belfast, also included on the compilation covering White Christmas.

The album is the brainchild of independent label Izumi Records and includes 18 tracks by artists and bands either covering Christmas favourites or offering their own festive material.

Among the names involved are Brighton band Electric Soft Parade performing The Friday Before Christmas and Amusement Parks On Fire who have shared bills with the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs and Snow Patrol and have contributed their own track The Day It Snowed.
