Sundance prize for independent
Irish film
AN Irish film has won a prestigious prize at the Sundance Film Festival
in the United States.
The low-budget film Once received the World Cinema Audience Award last
weekend at the festival which was founded by actor-director Robert Redford
to promote independent productions.
The musical charts a relationship between a Grafton Street busker —played
by Glen Hansard —and a Czech pianist — played by Marketa Irglova
— who sells roses and the Big Issue on the street.
It was written and directed by John Carney, one of the team behind the
RTÉ series Bachelors Walk. |
