| Talking on his Feet
In an arena that often thrives on swear words and controversy David O'
Doherty's gentle approach to stand-up is rather refreshing. There’s no crudity.
There's no confrontation. There are no props — save for his trusty old Yamaha
PSS-260 keyboard. So what does that leave?
“A fair mixture of songs and, er, talking,” explains O' Doherty, at the
risk of underselling himself. He laughs. “When you’re trying to write blurbs
for flyers, you’re meant to say things like ‘strap on your comedy goggles,
this is going to blow your mind’. But I can never think of anything more
than ‘I will play some songs and then talk for a while’.”
