Music Preview - A trad treat
Dublin is preparing itself for a four-day celebration of Irish traditional music
and culture in the city’s cultural quarter of Temple Bar later this month.
From January 26-29, hundreds of people will descend on the capital for the first
ever festival of its kind at Temple Bar to witness some of the best of Irish
talent.
And it’s hoped the festival, which was borne out of a desire to present the best
traditional Irish culture to
both a Dublin audience and
to visitors, will be huge success.
Citing the importance of such an event, one organiser said: “Dublin, a
stronghold of traditional music, has lacked a platform for
major traditional artists recently.
“Our programme includes musicians from most parts of Ireland and from different
generations of practitioners.
“The audience exists; we
hope to establish an opportunity to expose them to the best of traditional
culture, in song
and dance, in Irish and in English.”
Sounds like an event any folk and trad enthusiast would be mad to miss.
The line-up includes;
Thursday, January 26
- Temple Bar Music Centre, Curved Street — Skara Brae, Noel Hill, Caoimhín
