Breaks at lunch now a thing of
the past
The pressure of work is making a proper lunch break a thing of the past,
according to a recent study.
A survey of workers in Ireland and Britain revealed that lunch breaks
are getting shorter due to heavy workloads.
The average lunch break in Ireland is now just 38 minutes and more than
a third of workers say they are too busy to take a full hour for lunch
while one-in-five can’t spare the time for a break every day.
But Irish workers are still better off than workers in Britain who take
a shorter average lunch break of just 28 minutes every day.
The survey showed that only one-in-three have lunch away from their desk
just once a week, while half of workers never have time to leave their
office for lunch.
But the report also shows that lunches are getting healthier while sandwiches
and baguettes are still the favourite thing to eat.
