Can you help? A
NEW image showing mystery man David Harrison has been released this week
as the Missing People charity continues to try to uncover his true identity.
In two weeks since the charity launched their appeal little progress has
been made and a call from a Tipperary family claiming to know his identity
has proven fruitless.
David — a temporary pseudonym given by his carers — first
came to Missing People’s attention in 2000 when he collapsed in
Oldham town centre in Greater Manchester.
He is 5ft 5in tall and speaks with a heavy Irish accent but says only
‘boxing’ or ‘Tipperary’, leading carers at Oldham
social services to believe he may have lived or been born in Ireland.
Medical results show the amnesic man also has organic brain damage, which
may have been sustained in an earlier fall.
But following eight years in council care, he is now ready to go back
into the wider community to live more independently.
Oldham council are therefore keen to locate his family or friends to help
make that transition a little easier.
Anyone who recognises David should contact Missing People on Freefone
0500 700 700 or 00 44 20 8392 4545 from the Republic of Ireland.
