Comedians to headline for Capital of Culture  Three
kings of Irish comedy are set to take the stage by storm to celebrate
Liverpool’s year as Capital of Culture.
Ardal O’Hanlon, Dylan Moran and Tommy Tiernan will appear live on
stage together for the first time as part of Liverpool Comedy Festival
in The Three Fellas, which will be performed at the Echo Arena on June
14.
The one-off event is billed as a celebration of Liverpool’s culture
title, a recognition of the strong links between Liverpool and Ireland
and a highlight of the annual comedy festival and while all three comedians
have played Liverpool before, they have never been on the same bill.

Back to school
Irish acting sensation Saoirse Ronan claims that she is putting her film
career on hold — to go back to school in her hometown.
The Co. Carlow-born actress said she was looking forward to leaving Tinseltown
and resuming her education — the 14-year-old is currently filming
Peter Jackson’s adaptation of Alice Sebold’s best-seller,
Lovely Bones, with Mark Whalberg and Rachel Weisz.
Earlier this month the teenager was nominated for a Golden Globe for the
film Atonement and is also a front-runner for a coveted Oscar.
And British cinema-goers can expect to see her grace the silver screen
in forthcoming movies City Of Ember starring Bill Murray and Death Defying
Acts with Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Airport expansion
An Bord Pleanála has approved plans to extend Dublin Airport’s
terminal and work is expected to begin next month, according to the Dublin
Airport Authority.
The work is to cost some €55million and will extend the terminal
by about 7,500square meters.
It is expected the project will be completed by the summer of 2009 but
the authority says some of the extra facilities should be operational
by early next year. |
